Intro to Pen & Ink Illustration

Discover just how expressive a simple line can be in this introductory Pen & Ink Illustration Workshop at META4 Contemporary Craft Gallery.

Led by renowned Belgian comic artist and illustrator Dirk Michiels, this hands-on workshop explores the many ways you can approach illustration using pen and ink. Experiment with different styles of pens while learning the fundamentals of mark-making, line work and using line to bring energy, movement and mood to your drawings.

You’ll discover how subtle changes in the weight and movement of a line can add expression and personality to characters and scenes — and begin developing your own illustrative style along the way.

Whether you’re curious about illustration, looking to build your drawing skills or simply feel like spending a creative morning trying something new, this half-day workshop offers a fun and approachable introduction to the medium.

Dirk’s previous META4 workshop received rave reviews, making this a great opportunity to learn from an accomplished illustrator right here in Port Perry.
